The big wave season in Nazaré started with a ‘big’ campaign

Nazaré is a small fishing village on the west coast of Portugal known for its giant waves, which can reach up to 30 meters high. The waves in Nazaré are created by a phenomenon calledCannon Rock which is a deep underwater canyon located off of the coast of Portugal. This canyon is what amplifies the size of the waves and when the stormy weather comes to this area, it creates the perfect conditions for big waves. Nazaré has become a hotspot for big wave surfing, which attracts professional surfers from all over the world who come here to tackle the waves. The most wellknown and successful surfers include Garrett McNamara, Maya Gabeira, and Hugo Vau.
